The redeeming faktor for this hotel is its location - you cannot be better situated! We were housed in a separate apartment a couple of blocks away, which had no atmosphere, but was spacious and clean. If you are able to, be sure to book one of the rooms off the rooftop terrace, where you can lie in your bed and have a magnificent view over il duomo etc. Breakfast and standard is ok for the category and the coffee was alrigth!

The Medici Hotel put us in an off-site apartment which was huge, warm, immaculate and comfortable. Unfortunately it had no kitchen or TV and there is really nothing to do in Florence in the evening after dinner, so a TV would have been a huge improvement. The staff at the Medici were very helpful. It would have been useful to have the phone number of the hotel provided with the reservation so that we could have called them to ask for directions. As it was, we had only a Rome contact phone number and, with no convenient telephone and certainly no way to make long distance calls, that was useless.

Great location. Hard to find by car, so we hired a taxi to lead us there. Hotel had moved us from a 3-person room to a nearby 2-bedroom apartment, which was huge, warm, immaculate, IKEA-furnished and comfortable, but had no kitchen or TV. Going to the hotel for mediocre breakfast isn't worth the bother, but Caffe Paschkowski on the square serves fabulous pastries and possibly the best coffee on earth. Skip the hotel breakfast and go there instead. View from terrace stunning. By the way, the hotel personnel were exceptionally kind and helpful. We'll be back.

Just returned from Florence (16/07/03). Hotel basic, but clean, may well have been monks home at some time. Bed clean, bathroom small, but clean. Breakfast basic, but edible. The great surprise is the location to die for when you stand on the 6th floor terrace with panoramic views, and you can almost touch the Duomo. Will be returning to the Medici soon.

Lovely rooftop terrace but very lumpy uncomfortable bed. Mattress on inspection had holes where stuffing was coming out. Otherwise fairly good. Great location .

It is obvious that you are paying for the location at the Hotel Medici. Rooms are a bit run down and small, the bathroom could have been cleaner, and the lift was slow and uncooperative. The view that we had from our balcony was spectacular, however.

reasonable price, considering the location. However it was very grubby and the breakfast so so. The rooftop terrace was fab and a great escape from the room!!!

Excellent location. Bedroom a bit on the tatty side, clean bedding but room could have been cleaner. No TV. Breakfast limited, but many hotels don't offer any at all,so that's got to count in the Medcini's favour. Overall, we would stay there again simply because of the location.

Perfect location for sightseeing! Just a stonethrow from major attractions! That's what you pay for. The staff don't put any emphasis on cleaning, though and the bathroom (old and tiiiny) was a mess. Breakfast coffee was worse than in the US in the seventies and I nearly lost a tooth trying to eat the breadroll.

Nice place to stay, clean room, helpful staff. We had to share the bathroom but it was no big deal. Great view off the terrace!

This hotel was far below the standard that we had expected. From information we recieved on the website. There was no heating, the extra blankets that we were given were only good for dog blankets. The picture on the wall was the most discusting picture I have ever seen. The shower had soap scum on it and the toilet was so close to the wall that we had to sit sideways. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful and the elderly lady serving breakfast should learn some manners. We should have been paid to stay at the hotel instead of us paying such an expensive price and it completely ruined our stay in Florence. The breakfast was stale and unpalatable, no variety 2 stale rolls and some jam. The young girl who served us on 2 occassions was the only friendly face we saw. The Hotel Medici was in a great location and had the best rooftop terrace, looking right next door to the Duomo. You could purchase a beer and wine for cheap from the front desk and sit outside with a fantastic view. Breakfast was a bit weak and no TV, but everything else made up for it!
